The Block Island National Wildlife Refuge Quarter was released on November 13, 2018 as the forty-fifth coin in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program.

The Block Island National Wildlife Refuge, located in Rhode Island, was established in 1973. The reverse design depicts a black-crowned night-heron flying over a view from the beach at Cow Cove looking towards Sandy Point with the North Lighthouse in the background.

The picture of the North Lighthouse was taken on October 20, 2019 while visiting Block Island.
