1686. Austria. By Lazarus Gottlieb Lauffer (Obv.) and Georg Hautsch (Rev.). House of Habsburg. Leopold I (1657-1705) "The Hogmouth". Bronze medal. 40mm, 26.42gr. Lettered edge. The Siege of Vienna and Victories over the Turks as part of the war with the Ottoman Empire. L. G. Lauf(f)er was a manufacturer and contractor at Nuremberg (c. 1660-1700) and G. Hautsch was one of the major engravers who worked for his company (c. 1683-1712). Obv: LEOPOLDUS. I.TURC.VICTOR Two putti, flying over a panorama of the city of Vienna, holding a roundel with a portrait of Leopold I to right; at the bottom, infant genii hold medallic bust of Leopold over Vienna cityscape, initials LGL. Rev. VERMEHRER DES REICHES. 1686 Ten labeled roundels with views of the cities and fortresses captured in 1686. From the top, surmounted by a crown, Ofen, Pest, Hatwam, Segedin, Fünfkirchen, Simontorna, Kaposwar, Colosza, Sirlos and Esseckerbrucken; at the bottom, initials G.H. Julius 309. Montenuovo 1027.
