The Reverend William Romaine was born September 25, 1714 in County Durham. He was ordained as a deacon in 1736 and as a priest in 1738. He served as a lecturer and preacher in several churches around London. Around 1748 he experienced an evangelical conversion and began preaching to large crowds despite the opposition of the church hierarchy. He also wrote several evangelical works including the trilogy The Life, Walk, and Triumph of Faith. He died on July 26, 1795.
