Bronzed proof. Isaac Swainson manufactured and advertised his quack medicinal cure Vegetable Syrup of De Velnos’ in London. The source for his miracle syrup came from his private botanical garden at his home, which was said to be one of the grandest of its time. This syrup was advertised as a counter to the effects of Mercury, another popular ingredient in quack medicines at the time, which resulted in the poisoning death and of many. Isaac had originally placed a larger order but due to the misspelling of his name cancelled the order with only 12 or 18 tokens struck.
