Owner Comments:
I bought this coin off Ebay from a seller while it was in a PCGS holder designated as 50 Baht. I had it re-holdered by NGC who also designated it as 50 Baht. It is in fact 100 Baht, and twice as much gold as a 50 Baht. The 50, 100, and 1,000 Baht issues all look the same except for being increasingly big and heavy, and having a different number of grams listed on the reverse. This one is identifiable as 100 Baht based on the 17.387, which refers to its weight in grams. The 50 Baht has 8.693 on its reverse. So I was able to buy this coin as if it were a 50 Baht, probably for almost half price.
A gold bullion-type issue, commissioned on June 11, 1951 by a Regulation of the Ministry of Finance to repay bond holders who had participated in an internal loan regulated on May 17, 1943 - while Thailand was occupied by Japan in the middle of World War Two.
16 in all grades at NGC, including this coin (even though this coin is listed in the 50 Baht population not the 100 Baht population). 14 of those are graded higher than this coin. All of the 19 at PCGS are graded higher than this coin. So there are 35 in all grades at PCGS and NGC together, including this coin.
