1919 D is one of the more challenging Merc’s in Mint State, and like the 1918 branch mint issues it is very challenging with FB’s. As has generally been the trend for me, when FB’s get real pricey I instead seek out a overall well struck coin that has fallen short of FB’s. This is just such a coin, with an overall solid strike it also has great surfaces and nice luster.
