Very nice uncirculated Balanza peso. At the time of purchase (June 2020) it was PCGS Top Pop out of 9 coins..
This coin was innitically auctioned by Morton and Eden on November 2019 as part of the "Mexico Collection" ans described as "Decimal Coinage, pesos (2), Mexico City mint, 1869 C, 1870 C, both extremely fine or better (2)
(150-200 GBP) Lot 625". Eventually became available at Atlas Numismatics and soon enough, auctioned by Sedwick.
From the sale's catalogue: "Mexico City, Mexico, 1 peso, 1870C, PCGS MS62. KM-408.5. Very light rainbow toning (turning golden at rims) over luster, with a few tiny raised spots here and there but no wear or marks, tied with two others for finest known in PCGS census (three finer at NGC). PCGS 38651226. With original collector envelope".
