Owner Comments:

The Arkansas Hot Springs National Park quarter was released on April 19th, 2010, as the first quarter of the American the Beautiful quarter series.

Congress established the Hot Springs Reservation on April 20, 1832. This marked the first time the federal government preserved land for recreation purposes. In 1921 Congress changed the name from Hot Springs Reservation to Hot Springs National Park. The quarter’s reverse features the park’s headquarters building in the background with a fountain flowing with hot springs water in the foreground. The National Park Service (NPS) emblem is shown to the right of the headquarters door acknowledging Hot Springs as the first federal public lands dedicated to recreation.

I visited Hot Springs National Park on November 6, 2024, and took this picture of the park’s headquarters building and fountain.
