(J-931) The Irvine & Jachens Company made The Miner and the Creek Slugs between 1910 and 1950 in two basic designs .. The Miner Standing and The Miner Kneeling. The Miner Kneeling by the Creek is the rarer of the two Miner slugs. All the slugs have the Humbert Eagle with the wording "Imitation" on the reverse. Two obverse types exist for The Miner Kneeling .. one with and one without the "Day's of '49" Slogan.
After the Pan-Pacific Exposition The Miner Kneeling by the Creek slugs were introduced. The Miner Kneeling slugs were reissued prior to the 1935 and 1939 California Expositions. This type of issue was also used to commemorate the 1937 Mariposa State Mining Celebration. A "Great Rarity" per Jankovsky.
