The Umberto I 5 lire silver coins of the 1st and 2nd type differ both for the size of the sovereign's head, which is slightly smaller in the 1st type coins, and for the different reliefs, which are less accentuated in the coins of the 2nd type, particularly those of the sovereign's hair and mustache.
