Owner Comments:

Born Athenais, circa 393, in Athens, she would marry the Eastern Emperor Theodosius II and be given the title Augusta. Originally introduced to Theodosius II by Pulcheria, the two would later clash over power and political differences, resulting in likely false adultery accusations sometime after 443, and a lifetime exile to Jerusalem, where she died in 460.

She was the mother of Licinia Eudoxia, who would become the Western Roman Empress and wife to Valentinian III, and later Petronius Maximus.
