Owner Comments:

Mintage 1,160,000 - Minted in Philadelphia. - Another tough coin to find in mint state. The Coat of arms includes the Quetzal bird which symbolizes liberty, perched on top of a scroll which contains the inscription, "Libertad 15 DE Septiembre De 1821" the date of Central America's independence from Spain. The scroll sits over two rifles with bayonets (which represent a willingness to defend) and two crossed swords (which represent honor). Flanked on both sides are laurel branches which symbolize victory.
