Owner Comments:

An 1815 Quarter graded G-6 and attributed as B-1 by NGC.This early quarter is a more difficult date to obtain as compared to other dates in the Capped Bust Series and although it is in a lower state of preservation it most definitely has a significant amount of U.S.history to share. This coin has circulated through many hands over the years and surely was in circulation during many historical events that shaped this country.James Madison was our country’s 4th President serving a second term in office. He and First Lady Dolley Madison were living in the White House during the War of 1812 and oversaw the rescue of many valuable items during it’s burning by the British. On January 8,1815 American forces won the Battle of New Orleans under then General Andrew Jackson who would later go on to become the nation’s 7th President. The War of 1812 was coming to an end at the time of or just before this coin’s striking. The War was officially over with the signing of the Treaty of Ghent on February 18,1815.
