Owner Comments:

This is a very low grade early (JR-1)1805 United States Draped Bust Dime,in AG-DETAILS - Damaged condition. It was produced at the Philadelphia Mint only one year after the Louisiana Purchase! This coin while well worn is still very pleasing to view.It has a clear date, full devices and much history. If it could speak,it would have an interesting story to tell because of the many hands it must have passed through. This undoubtedly accounted for it’s damage and low state of preservation. One way to hold a piece of history in your hands is by having a coin like this in your collection!
Thomas Jefferson was the 3rd President of the United States at the time this coin was made.He had just finished his first term as President and was starting his second. Also,on January 11,1805 the Michigan Territory was organized and on November 18,1805 Lewis and Clark had reached the Pacific Ocean.
