The Effigy Mounds National Monument Quarter was released on February 6, 2017 as the thirty-sixth coin in the American the Beautiful Quarters Program.

Located in Iowa, the Effigy Mounds National Monument was established in 1949 and protects over 200 American Indian burial and ceremonial mounds. Many of the mounds are formed in the shapes, or effigies, of birds and animals. The coin reverse features images of two bears and a bird from the mounds in the Marching Bear Group.
