Mintage 1,800,000, Minted in Philadelphia. - Very scarce coin this nice. This is a beautiful example, a very high grade MS-64.
Coat of Arms for Panama.
Top left section displays a sword and gun which represents the abandonment of war and/or civil strife.
Top right section displays a shovel and hoe which represents Industry and hard work.
Center Section displays the Isthmus with the sea and sky
Bottom Left displays a cornucopia representing the wealth of the country
Bottom right shows the winged wheel, a symbol of progress
The eagle is an emblem of sovereignty and the silver tape held by the eagle's beak is inscribed with the motto "Pro Mundi Beneficio" This motto was change for a 5 year period beginning in 1941 to Justice, Honor and Freedom, but was returned to "Pro Mundi Beneficio" in 1946.
The stars represent the provinces in the Republic.
