The series of panda medals produced by the Smithsonian and the China Mint has been very popular so far. This 2016 1 oz. proof silver medal features Bei Bei. He was born at the National Zoo on August 22, 2015. Mintage of this medal is limited to 10,000 pieces.
On the obverse, this medal shows a pair of iconic structures. Both the Smithsonian Castle and the Great Wall of China can be seen here. On the reverse, young Bei Bei is pictured looking at his reflection in the water. His name and birthdate are inscribed on this side as well.
