Owner Comments:
This 31.135 grams, .999 Ag, 32.60mm, Australian $1 High Relief Kookaburra coin had a very low mintage of only 10,000 and has a NGC of just 1,516. The obverse of this coin was engraved by Natasha Muhl and features two juvenile kookaburras sitting on a tree branch amid flowers. The Ian Rank-Broadley likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination are shown on the obverse. The coin’s high relief reverse and obverse are minted on concave surfaces to ensure the optimum flow of metal is achieved by the strike of the die. The Australian Kookaburra high relief coin is a prestigious and limited offering from The Perth Mint. Native to Australia, kookaburras are best known for their unmistakable call, which sounds uncannily like loud, echoing human laughter.
