Owner Comments:
Very scarce 1/4 taler issued to commemorate the death of Karl Joseph Ignaz Herzog von Lothringen (1680-1715), archbishop of Trier. Also known as Charles III, he was also the bishop of Olomouc and the Prince-Bishop of Osnabruck. Zepernick lists the taler (#29), half taler (#30), and the 1/8 taler (#31), but is missing the 1/4 taler. Pedigree to William Jacob Collection.
