Hattiesburg, MS The First-NB of Commerce Ch. # (S)5176 PMG 30 $5 1882 DB Fr. 538 SN 19361/H561896 pp D/70 dtd. Aug. 8, 1908. Best of a very scarce Mississippi type. The First-National Bank of Commerce was the only bank in the entire state of Mississippi to issue $5 1882 Date Backs. This is one of only six examples recorded from this bank and thus the state. This example is also the finest of that half dozen, with bright paper, nice color, and just even wear. Faded purple signatures are legible for Rudolph C. Hauenstein, Cashier and J.P Carter, President.
