Owner's Description

Cincinnati, OH The Ohio Valley NB Ch. # 3606 PMG 15 $5 1882 BB Fr. 469 Rosecrans | Jordan SN 102/E146176 pp A/5 dtd. Dec. 20, 1886. Doug Walcutt's Group 5--'Princess Leia' title layout. This group derives its name from the spectacular embellishments on the ends of the tombstone that resemble Princess Leia's Coiled hair in the Star Wars movies. The wording, WILL PAY TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND, is found only on this layout for the 1882 series $5s, making an appearance on the plates for four banks between December 1886 and Jan 1887. All have the BEP imprint in the upper right corner, in-out plate letters, and white charter numbers. A truly scarce Cincinnati bank which issued Brown Backs only before liquidating in 1904. Penned signatures of O.H. Tudor, Cashier and Jas. (James) Espey, President.
