Owner's Description
Dover, NJ The N Union B Ch. # (E)2076 Abnormal Border Variety PMG 35 $10 1882 BB Fr. 485 SN 8293/K670677K pp C/15 dtd. Dec. 20, 1892. A highly elusive Brown Back in any grade for this Morris County bank. This happens to be a much nicer example, showing outstanding margins on the front, albeit uneven margins on the back due to a slight mis-alignment while printing the face. Generally decent signatures may be seen aside from staining that partially obscures the cashier's neat penmanship. Signers were Chas. Applegate, Cashier and Vice President E. (Elbert) H. Baldwin. President in 1908 was C.R. Mulligan, succeeded by Thos. H. Hoagland while Baldwin served as Cashier before Applegate. Misplaced Charter number. The Cutout for the charter number was misplaced on the $10 roll that was used between 1885 and 1893 to make the upper left border. Used to make series of 1882 3x10-20 plates from Aug 1885-June 1893 based on cerification dates on proofs for new banks. It is possible that the roll was used a bit longer for extending banks or banks undergoing title changes. First used for the Ninth NB Phila. (3371); last Itasca, TX (4924). Normal, IL Ch. 4930, certified October 23, 1893 is first use of new 'normal' roll.
