Set Description:
On July 10, 1929 the United States replaced its large size currency, like the Series 1923 Silver Certificate One Dollar bill, with small size notes. The 1928 silver certificate was the first small size silver certificate made and was only made for less than a year (April 1928 to January 1929). For Series 1928, only $ 1 Silver Certificates were produced. Fives and tens of this time were mainly Federal Reserve Notes, which were backed by and redeemable in gold.
