My favorite book! This short-lived series contains excellent stories featuring medical drama with the perfect 1950's/EC flavor and O'Henry endings. It is part of the "New Direction" comics EC released after the 1954 Senate Hearings into Juvenile Delinquency and public opinion forced them to abandon their crime and horror "New Trend" comics. Each issue has the typical EC formula of four stories with art by Feldstein, Craig, Evans, Crandall and others from the EC bullpen. I use a powerpoint presentation of "The Antidote," a story about the diagnosis and treatment of appendicitis in M.D. #1, when I teach medical students about surgical disease of the abdomen, and I always get the highest feedback scores from the students.
