Owner's Description

Boldly prooflike on the obverse more subdued on the reverse with light striated toning. This is a very rare piece, one of just two reported to have been struck in this composition. The ANS Collection includes four of this type, but none in this metal. Provenance: From the Brian Dobbins Collection of American Political Tokens. Earlier ex Wayte Raymond; F.C.C. Boyd; John J. Ford, Jr., Stack's Bowers, September 2013, lot 10652. This example is the only one of it's type listed in copper/nickel in the NGC census as of 12/2018. This exact medal sold for $705.00 in a Stacks Bowers auction of the John J. Ford collection in 2013.
