Medal, 1953, WM, 25th ANNIV NORTH AMERICAN AVIATION, United States, Los Angeles. So Called Dollar, HK-743, NGC AU58, Cert# 2511470-024. Obv. Aviation Design, NAA, 1928-1953; Rv. F-86, Plane Sabre Jet. Medal issued by company; presented to persons visiting plant during open house anniversary celebration, Sunday, July 26, 1953. Designer unknown but issue struck in North American's own plant, Department 2. First 100 medals struck, Type II, counterstamped with large numeral 2, some on obverse, others on reverse; used as samples both for approval by company executives and to test dies. TYPE I, Obv. In center is insignia or emblem of North American Aviation; to l. 1928, to r. 1953; above all North American Aviation, Inc.; below all 25th Anniversary. Rev. In center is vertical jet airplane, nose down; above F-86; below Sabre Jet. HK-743 Aluminum. 38mm.
