Owner's Description
Production numbers on this medal were listed as 4,600 on the thin varieties and only 1,200 on the thick. I am certain that reported production numbers are NOT correct on any of these medals. The reason I list some of them is that the numbers are at the high end of what might have been produced. I base this statement on two things. First, a family friend of Robert McNamara was told by his wife that the production numbers that were listed are higher than what was actually produced. Secondly, after Robert McNamara passed away a family friend was recruited to help clean up and dispose of most of the Heraldic Art Medals company paperwork. Unfortunately there were several van loads of paperwork and records that were hauled to a dump and burned. Therefore, no one will ever know exactly how many of these medals were produced, sold, and who they were sold to. I do know this to be true as there was a very small amount of the colored envelopes that the medals were enclosed in and the literature that was enclosed in the mailing envelopes that described the design of the obverse and reverse of each medal that were saved. I was indeed fortunate enough to be able to acquire a small number of sets of both. The serial numbers on the envelopes prove that the production numbers listed were never completely produced, or at the very least on any not sold that they may have melted and turned back into blanks for future medals.
