Owner's Description

This is a complete horizontal split on a T2 Bronze Small Cent Blank with a weight of 1.3 grams. The normal weight of this Blank should be 3.11 grams. - Split Blanks and Planchets occur when impurities in the alloy or contaminates gets trapped inside the sheet of metal that will be used to produce the Blanks. Once the blank is cut out of this contaminated strip of metal, the blank or planchet will split due to the violent jostling of the coining process. When this happens, one side of the coin will look normal the other side will have a striated split pattern. The weight of each piece will be considerable less than the design weight.
