Owner's Description

Purchased on 12/3/2012. This is a two year type coin, minted only in years 1955 and 1965. This 1965 coin was minted in only 100,000 pieces, as compared to the much more common 1955 piece minted in a quantity of 1.5 million coins. The British Caribbean Territories - Eastern Group, was a monetary union created in 1950 to provide a common currency for a number of Britain’s colonies in the Caribbean. Included were British Guiana (now Guyana), British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Antigua, St. Kitts, Nevis, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, and Dominica. The British Caribbean Territories was replaced by the East Caribbean States when the territories gained independence from Great Britain in the 1960's and 1970's. The reverse design of the coin is attributed to Thomas Humphrey Piaget, a well known and celebrated English coin designer.
