Owner's Description

Medal, 1909, Gold, ALASKA-YUKON-PACIFIC GOLD, So Called Dollar HK-360 Gold, NGC MS64, Cert# 3427629-045. Designed by Jules Charbneau for the Alaskan-Yukon-Pacific Exposition held in 1909. These were sold by Charbneau at Ye Old Curiosity Shop in Seattle as the official gold coins of the exposition. Struck from Alaskan gold. Semi-reflective fields with an exceptionally strong strike. The US Mint did not strike any official gold commemorative coins for the AYPE. There are several different die varieties which all feature a miner standing with a pick over his shoulder.
