Owner's Description
Medal, 1876, AE, LIBERTY BELL / INDEPENDENCE HALL, US CENTENNIAL EXPOSITION, United States, PA, HK-25 So-Called Dollar, Pointed "6" Variety, NGC MS64BN, Cert# 2597790-001. Struck and Issued by Messrs. Deihl, Philadelphia; Designed by Key. (Some pieces with a small bell as early as 1872, large bell 1874). Actual Bell is also made of bronze, weighs 2080 pounds, is 3 feet high, measures 12 feet around lip. John Pass and Charles Stow recast bell in 1753, it having cracked the year before and in 1835, it cracked beyond repair. Bell now hangs in Old State House, renamed "Independence Hall", where the Declaration of Independence was unanimously adopted by the Continental Congress, July 4, 1776. Obv. Bell, Large bearing Lines, Liber in Philad, Pass and Stow, MDCCLIII, 1776 / 1876. Rv. Edifice, 1776 / 1876, Commenced 1729 / Finished 1734, Microscopic Key. F beneath Edifice. This with Pointed "6" in Date.
