Set Description
What I enjoy most about collecting these 5oz medals are the extremely low mintages joined with extremely low populations. From the inaugural year of 1985 to the present year of 2016, there's a combined total of 33K 5oz medals minted... and out of that, only 13K were minted in the first 27 years (pre 2012). If you collect top pops, this set takes a great deal of patience... I've acquired the bulk of these through private sales and have never seen the tough years' top pops in public auctions. Most are buried in a volt somewhere in the world & will never see the light of day. Although one of the toughest collections I've put together, it's also one of my favorites. You really can't beat the big face pandas in the high grades... every detail is clear with frosty devices surrounded by haze free/ mirrored fields.
