This is the World's finest collection of Canada Commemorative S$5 Mint State coins ever assembled, 1973 - 2016. This is a showcase of this masterpiece, which was very difficult to assemble and took many years.
Due to the issue of 'milk spotting' on Canadian mint state and bullion style coinage, finding coins in the coveted MS69 or MS70 condition was extremely difficult. This set is kicked off with the 1973 to 1976 Montreal Olympic coin collection. This is an interesting set, as Native Canadian art, modern Canadian architecture and the origins of the Olympics in Greece were all featured in the designs of these coins. In my opinion, the most difficult of these coins to achieve in MS69 status (considered top grade achievable for this set) is the 'marathon' coin.
On the whole, the most difficult coins that were acquired for this set were the 2015 Red-Tailed Hawk and the 2015 Great Horned Owl bullion coins in MS70.
I do have some regrets in this set. A few of the 2011-2013 coins were purchased at huge premiums because the bullion market was so hot at the time, and I doubt that I will ever be able to recover those costs. Nonetheless, an achievement of this magnitude in this set will be very difficult to achieve for future collectors and I wish them luck going forward if they attempt it!
I will attempt to upgrade to more MS70 coins if they become available at auction over the course of the next decade or so. I hope you enjoy this set!
