Owner's Description

Aquamarine, salmon-pink, and plum colors endow the unblemished and prominently mirrored fields. Boldly struck aside from the final star and a couple of nearby denticles. 1858 was the first year that proofs were offered for sale to collectors. The actual mintage is unrecorded, but the Guide Book suggests 300+ pieces. What is known is that the 1858 is scarcer as a proof than the remaining dates of the Seated Liberty series
