Owner's Description

Republic gold 5 Pesos 1870-GW, AU 55, San Jose mint, KM 114. Finest known from the Magnificent Richard Stuart Collection. Extremely rare in this condition and the only graded by NGC higher than XF The key date of this four-year type, missing in most collections and one of only few confirmed examples. (note that the mintage figure of 15,000 pieces indicated in the SCWC is misleading as the majority of those pieces were dated 1869). Currently there are only two certified examples of the date by either major third party grading service.
