Owner's Description
Finest known of 5, Purchased by Larry Shepherd, FUN, Orlando, FL 1/6/07. 1948-D 50C Booker T. Washington MS67 PCGS. Silver coins are popularly known for being silver in color as well as in composition. Experienced numismatists know that silver coins will change color over time, and many prize those pieces fortunate enough to have eye-catching toning. This is just such a piece. Deeply toned, enticingly lustrous and without a trace of white visible, the centers show a flashy green-gold hue before giving way to deepening color on the peripheries, extending to rainbow bands of orange, magenta and electric blue on the obverse. Above and beyond the obvious eye-catching characteristics, this coin is also a technical marvel, a Superb Gem tied for the finest graded of the date with only two small abrasions noticeable to the right of Washington's chin. Population: 5 in 67, 0 finer (11/06).
