Owner's Description

With mintage figures of 983 this beautiful commemorative coin sits proud in my collection. Situated high above Meintjieskop the stately outline of the union buildings surrounded by a forest of jacaranda trees in full bloom, is still etched in my memory (having grown up a in Pretoria). The engraving on the obverse accurately captures Herbert Baker's design (and construction) for the office of the President of the Republic of South Africa. The union buildings were completed in 1913
