Owner's Description

I recall waiting anxiously for the grade from NGC for this coin (to be honest, every coin I ever send...). A small spot on the coin prompted me to send to NCS and then NGC. With a mintage of only 1752 and this being one of the scarcer coins in the series to find (my opinion), much to my delight I unknowingly had the perfect coin, first time around.

Interesting fact: In South Africa there are many legends and myths surrounding these owls and they are feared by many local cultures. The one I have heard many times over is that if a Spotted eagle owl roosted on your roof at night, it would surely mean a death in the family. This has given rise to unfounded superstitions, which threaten their existence in the wild.
