Owner's Description

Republic 2 Escudos, 1863-GW. NGC AU-50. San Jose mint, KM 99. Mintage of 5,632 pieces. Bold for the type with just a hint of orange toning over yellow-gold surfaces. A better date within the series. Tied to the second finest with only one known AU specimen being graded higher according to the NGC Census report. I consider that both the 1862 and 1863 dates are by far the scarcest dates of the type. No mint state coins are known from either of these two years.
