Owner's Description

Republic 2 Escudos, 1862-GW. NGC AU-58. San Jose mint, KM 99. Mintage of 5,896 pieces. A coin with substantial underlying luster and nice details for the issue. Very scarce date and preservation. Finest known from the Magnificent Richard Stuart Collection. Only three coins being graded as AU and this one being the highest by two grades. I consider that both the 1862 and 1863 dates are by far the scarcest dates of the type. No mint state coins are known from either of these two years.
