Owner's Description

Republic 1/2 Escudo, 1855-JB. NGC MS-64. San Jose mint, KM 97. Mintage of 8,822 pieces for both JB and GW assayers in this year. Only four mint state pieces on the NGC Census record and this is the finest known from the Magnificent Richard Stuart Collection. Lustrous and attractive with charming orange toning and very sharp details. Struck on a concave flan as nearly all specimens are with the reverse being as perfect as this collector has ever seen. Extremely rare in this condition.
