Owner's Description

Republic 2 Escudos, 1854-GW. NGC AU-50. San Jose mint, KM 99. Mintage of 3,641 pieces for both the 1850 and 1854 coins. An attractive original example with pleasing old-time toning and luster in the legends. Soft strike but nice details for the grade. The GW assayer, Guillermo Witting, is by far the rarer of the two assayers. Finest known according to the NGC Census report, this being the only AU coin. Very rare in this condition.
