Owner's Description

Republic 1 Escudo, 1851-JB. NGC MS-64. San Jose mint, KM 98. Mintage of 4,388 pieces. Choice mint state, brilliant uncirculated. Finest known from the Magnificent Richard Stuart Collection. Only two mint state pieces on the NGC record and the highest grade for the whole 1 Escudo series. A truly exceptional specimen, superbly struck, with a stronger strike than most pieces found for this type. The coin exhibits great eye appeal. Extremely rare in this condition.
