Owner's Description

1784 marks another transition year in Mexico City assayers. This is the more common variety that starts to feature the initials F.M. (for Francisco Arance y Cobos and Mariano Rodríguez). I found this slabbed example on Ebay for a surprisingly low BIN price on my birthday in 2013, Well struck with a bit of weakness in the center of the reverse, lightly toned and much remaining luster. I had purchased several raw coins for this slot but all had gotten details grades for hairlines so finding this nicely graded specimen for less than I paid for the best of my others was a fantastic birthday present.
