Owner's Description

Mintage 26,700.

Purchased November 2011 in a Heritage auction where it was described as follows: Only 26,700 half eagles were struck at the San Francisco Mint in 1877. The relatively few that have survived are mostly in Very Fine and Extremely Fine grades. They are rarely found above the present grade of AU53. The yellow-gold surfaces display luster in the recessed areas of the well defined design features.
