Owner's Description

Of a mintage of about 28,000 it is estimated that about 22,500 were the Large Letter variety. Doug Winter considers this issue the fifth rarest in the Charlotte Half Eagle series with less than 100 known to survive in any condition. NGC says the reverse has been improperly cleaned, I think the obverse has been also.

Purchased March 1974 at the Onondaga Numismatic Association show. Photos show the coin prior to certification
