Owner's Description

This is the 2015 reverse proof. It's the first reverse proof Libertad that was minted by the bank of Mexico that came as part of a 2 and 3 piece set. The total minted for the 2 pc set was limited to only 500 sets and the 3pc set was made for the employees at the mint. After giving the employees at the mint their sets, there was an additional 52 sets of the 3pc brought in by Don Bailey Numismatics for a total of 552. Ampex was given the sole rights to the 500 2pc sets and started to sell them at 199 dollars. Due to the demand they quickly jumped the price to 499 dollars. I waited to get a set and picked it up for 459 but the graded PL70 coins are going for over 1k in the aftermarket. There have been questions as to why this coin was given the PL designation by NGC? The answer is because the mint described this as a proof like coin.

If your interested in what a real proof like libertad looks like, please check out the 1990 I have listed in this set as it was graded as a PL67 making it the first and only graded BU to be given the PL designation.
