Owner's Description
1905-S Twenty Dollar, MS64
Rarely Encountered Finer
1905-S $20 MS64 NGC. The San Francisco Mint was the chief producer of double eagles near the end of the Liberty Head series, but this does not always translate into high-grade availability for these dates. The 1905-S had a mintage in excess of 1.8 million coins, but remarkably few examples are known in Gem or better condition, making attractive MS64 examples the finest obtainable by most collectors. This piece is sharply struck, with radiant yellow-gold luster. Light grazes on Liberty's cheek are much of what defines the grade. NGC has seen only nine numerically finer pieces
