Owner's Description

In 1900, the San Francisco Mint struck only 329,000 pieces. Many were lost to attrition, and Garrett and Guth suggest that the issue "... is probably 10 times rarer than the 1900 Philadelphia issue." The current coin has a phenomenal strike and blazing frosty cartwheel luster. The color is a rich orange gold. Heritage 7/08: 1979.

Note: the smudge by the lower shield is in the holder, not the coin.
