Owner's Description

Winter Variety 1-A. The grainy texture of this coin (particularly on the obverse) somewhat mutes the luster. However, a noticeable cartwheel is visible when the coin is rotated under the light. The strike is strong for a Carson City minted coin and this example exhibits all of the diagnostic characteristics mentioned in Doug Winter’s “Gold Coins of the Carson City Mint”, First Edition. The color is a soft orange-gold. Purchased from Mid-American.
